The Raha Foundation launched its Cater project on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at a primary health care center in Abuja, Nigeria. The project aims to provide clean birth kits to 100,000 women in vulnerable communities in Nigeria.
The Cater project is a major initiative of the Raha Foundation and is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of women and children in Nigeria. The foundation is calling on other organizations to partner with them to support the Cater project and help save the lives of women and children in Nigeria.
Speaking at the launch, Raha Foundation founder Mr Rasheed Yusuf said that the Cater project is a response to the high maternal mortality rate in Nigeria. According to the World Health Organization, Nigeria has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world, with 512 deaths per 100,000 live births.
“The Cater project is our way of giving back to the community and helping to save the lives of women and children,” Rasheed Yusuf said. “We believe that every woman has the right to a safe and healthy childbirth.”
The clean birth kits donated by the Raha Foundation contain essential items for childbirth, such as sterile gloves, gauze, scissors, and a razor. The kits will be distributed to pregnant women at primary health care centres in vulnerable communities.
In addition to donating the clean birth kits, the Raha Foundation also organized a speech and seminar for women at the primary health care centre. The address and seminar covered topics such as the importance of prenatal care, safe childbirth practices, and breastfeeding.
The speech and seminar for women at the primary health care center were attended by over 100 women. The women were given information on the importance of prenatal care, safe childbirth practices, and breastfeeding. This will continue in other healthcare facilities.
The launch of the Cater project was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, and the Nigerian Medical Association. The representatives spoke in support of the project and pledged their support to the Raha Foundation.
“We hope that the Cater project will help to improve the health and well-being of women and children in Nigeria,” Rasheed Yusuf said. “We are committed to working and calling on other organizations to partner to support the Cater project to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
